Is this covered by insurance?
With nutrition becoming more widely recognized as a healthcare modality, more and more insurance companies are beginning to offer insurance packages to cover full or partial costs of nutritional services. Whether or not you are covered under your insurance program depends on which company you are with. I encourage you to reach out to your provider to see if they cover the services of a Holistic Nutritionist - it is likely under the category of “Nutritional Counselling”. Additionally, health spending accounts may be used towards Holistic Nutrition Services as well.
Are Holistic Nutritionists against Western Medicine?
One person can never represent a health care system as people can vary in their approach and opinions. I believe Holistic and Western medicine can go hand in hand when necessary. It all depends on what you’re experiencing and what you need to function throughout your day to day. It’s important to always speak with your doctor as well as getting regular checkups.
It is also understandable to have concerns about pharmaceutical medication as there can be complications from side effects, but it can be important to minimize symptoms while simultaneously doing the deep inner work! Everything is case by case and it’s my job to help you navigate through that.
How many sessions will it take to relieve my symptoms?
It can be within 2 weeks, or 6 months. This all depends on the severity of your symptoms. Western medicine is amazing at instantly relieving a symptom and many times that can be needed in order to carry out your day to day! However, symptoms are your bodies way of waving a red flag for you to look deeper into why it is occurring in the first place. It’s important to understand why you are experiencing the problem and rather masking or ignoring it, to target the source so that it doesn’t reoccur or get worse in the long run. My favourite quote is “you can’t walk 10 miles into a forest and expect to get out in 5”. If theres been years/decades of things contributing to your issues, it may take up to half as long to see full results.
